Emergency Kit

We keep an emergency kit on hand because things can go sideways fast. Everything lives in one bin so there’s no scrambling while we're already panicking. Our emergency kit is actually a two-bin system: routine care items in one, lesser-used emergency supplies in the other. Both are likely to see action when something goes wrong, so they live side-by-side on the shelf.

Keep scrolling to see all details about what’s in our kit. These are the products we use and bought with our own money or made ourselves — no affiliate links, no perks, no agenda.

What’s in our Emergency Kit?

  • Critical Care Herbivore

For use if your piggies stop eating, or ahem, when your piggie knocks out his two front teeth trying to be Top Pig and can no longer eat easily. We bought ours at Amazon.

  • Sterile Syringes

Useful for a whole host of things - we keep plenty of these on hand. We bought a big pack at Amazon.

  • Gauze

We bought our small gauze pads at Amazon.

  • Nasal Aspirator

Guinea pigs only breathe through their noses, and this can help remove whatever is clogging up their nasal cavity. We bought ours at Amazon.

  • Plastic Tweezers

Plastic tweezers are a helpful addition - they can be gentler than metal ones. We 3D printed our own from Bambu Lab’s Maker World.

  • Metal Tweezer Set

We think these might be helpful if the plastic ones aren’t up to the job. We found these at Target.

  • Cage Divider Panels and Hardware

Super helpful if you need to separate your piggies for any reason. We bought ours from Critter Colony solely as a precaution and already consider them an absolute must-have.

  • Liquid Vitamin C

Can be used with a syringe if a piggie can’t get vitamin C in other ways. We bought ours at Amazon.

  • Baby Gas Drops

Can be helpful for upset tummies. We bought ours at Amazon.

  • Saline Solution

Can be used to flush out eyes or clean minor wounds. We bought these individual use vials from Amazon.

  • First Aid Tape

    We bought this from Target.

  • Cotton Swabs & Balls

Always useful, keep plenty of these around. We bought these from Amazon.

  • Storage Bins

Can never have enough of these. We add removable labels to each bin and line them up in our cabinet. We bought ours from Amazon.
