Why ModPig?

A few months ago, we became guinea pig parents of two baby boars thinking they would be easy breezy pets to have, and way less complicated than dogs. That has turned out to be mostly true, but like all things, there have been unexpected surprises. Finding an enclosure we could bear to look at was a serious undertaking… even finding enough space in our house for a large enough enclosure was an adventure. And we were dismayed at the variety of guinea pig accessory options. Why must everything be loud and garish, in obnoxious colors, and overly cartoony? Our guinea pigs are located in our living room, and we want their enclosure to reflect the same design as our home - a nod toward modern, in nice soothing colors. Zen and peaceful. Pleasing to the eye. Our pigs are Modern Pigs. In terms of cage accessories, it seems like you could easily fill a house storing all the various things piggies seem to need! We don’t have tons of space, so we want to find things that can do double duty and be swapped in and out as needed (modular, one might say, or even modifiable), and adhere to our modern aesthetic. And soModPig was born.

We’ll be sharing all sorts of things pig related here. We’re new to all of this, so we’re making plenty of mistakes, and learning new things every day. We hope to share all the ups and downs here and maybe put together some useful resources along the way.
